Silk, Linen and Cotton
Materials
Silk – Like wool, silk is of animal origin and is obtained exclusively from silkworm cocoons.
Silk is the material most similar to human skin, which is why it is the fiber best tolerated by our body. It has a soothing effect on the skin, is highly breathable, and even though it can absorb a large amount of moisture it always remains dry.
For this reason, the use of silk in the padded layers of a mattress allows body perspiration to be absorbed without cooling, preventing the unpleasant sensation of dampness and reducing the risk of chill-related ailments. Silk therefore offers excellent thermoregulating properties and is especially recommended for individuals with particularly sensitive skin.
Linen and Cotton – Textile fibers of plant origin, linen and cotton are obtained from the plant’s tuft, specifically from the soft fibers surrounding the seeds inside the flower. The seeds and small vegetal elements often remain trapped within the padding fibers, further confirming the natural origin of the material. Linen and cotton are among the most widely used natural fibers in the textile industry but are also employed in many other fields. Even in their raw state, these materials possess excellent qualities: they are good heat conductors and therefore help disperse the warmth produced and accumulated by the body.
They are an ideal solution as fresh summer padding for mattresses. The linen and cotton used by Lordflex’s are sanitized, carded, and needle‑punched always first‑use and never regenerated.
