SUSTAINABILITY:
Environmental Impact
and Social Responsibility
Every year in Italy, 5 to 6 million mattresses are replaced because they are old or damaged and therefore no longer usable. Until a few years ago, all of these were sent to landfills, disregarding the proper principles of environmental protection and low environmental impact. In contrast, Lordflex’s has long been committed to a design and production process based on eco-design principles. These involve the use of materials and industrial processes that enable the complete disassembly of the finished product and the subsequent reuse of its components.
Today, Lordflex’s guarantees that its products—composed of natural fabrics, wadding, waterform, steel springs, and more—are 95% recoverable for manufacturing new products when placed in the proper recycling chain.
Another important aspect in protecting the environment is product durability. For this reason, Lordflex’s has always offered mattresses and bed systems designed to exceed rigorous durability tests (over 15 years of normal use) conducted at the Catas and Cosmob laboratories. The longer a product lasts, the less waste it generates.
Thanks to these choices, Lordflex’s products reaching the end of their life cycle enter a virtuous circular economy process, resulting in an almost zero percentage of unusable waste destined for landfill. A Lordflex’s mattress is never discarded — it’s transformed into something new.
